This leaves a big hole.
Hell, The Cramps were the band who really got me interested in rockabilly in the first place, when I realized the musical lineage of their sound. I heard them live at THE RITZ in New York about 20 years ago. I don't think I was a real Cramps convert yet, then they launched into Mule Skinner Blues, and I never looked back.
When I was pitching the idea for Pull The String to the folks at KSER in the fall of 2003, The Cramps were like a one band summing-up of what I wanted to do on the radio. The style of the show has since shifted and evolved a little, but you'll still find The Cramps on my playlist any given week. I don't like music categories anyway, and I sure wouldn't try to label them. It was always just THE CRAMPS.
Just listen.

Join me every Saturday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm for Pull The String! Influences:
I've been influenced by every DJ I've ever listened to, here in Everett, and before that in New York and Miami. Len Pace, who did a jazz show in Miami, David Garland, who did a show called SPINNING ON AIR on one of New York's public radio stations, and Paul Aaron, who hosted COWBOY JOE'S RADIO RANCH in New York stand out as examples of hosts who really explored the possibilities of where you can take an audience with a show on public radio. I keep learning from my fellow volunteers here at KSER, as well as my listeners, and I expect I always will. Anytime I start thinking I really have this DJ-ing thing DOWN, I screw something up and get humble again!

Bio??? OK, since you asked...
I was born in Miami in 1957. The first artist I remember singing along with a lot was Ricky Nelson, and I think we had a 45 of Elvis's Teddy Bear...
In 7th grade, around 1970, I took up the trumpet in the school band, and quit listening to crappy pop commercial radio. There was a great station in Miami, WBUS, "The Magic Bus." Listening to them was a real EXPERIENCE, but after a few years they were sold, their freewheeling, pot-influenced, creative, rock-based format was out the window, and I discovered PUBLIC RADIO!!! Commercial-free bluegrass, folk, jazz, country, celtic, and NPR. Amazing!
