This leaves a big hole.
Hell, The Cramps were the band who really got me interested in rockabilly in the first place, when I realized the musical lineage of their sound. I heard them live at THE RITZ in New York about 20 years ago. I don't think I was a real Cramps convert yet, then they launched into Mule Skinner Blues, and I never looked back.
When I was pitching the idea for Pull The String to the folks at KSER in the fall of 2003, The Cramps were like a one band summing-up of what I wanted to do on the radio. The style of the show has since shifted and evolved a little, but you'll still find The Cramps on my playlist any given week. I don't like music categories anyway, and I sure wouldn't try to label them. It was always just THE CRAMPS.

With unbelievable energy, inimitable style, and true love and respect for the music that had come before, Lux Interior and wife/guitarist Poison Ivy did much to turn people on to some of the great American music that too often stays under the radar of the masses, and led one of the greatest bands of all time along the way.
