Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrations in Snohomish Co.
To mark the start of Black History Month, KSER presents an edited presentation by two remarkable voices from the Civil Rights effort in America: Coach Herman Boone and Myrlie Evers-Williams.
Coach Boone overcame prejudice in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971 to build a successful and winning high school football team. He was the inspiration for the film “Remember the Titans” starring Denzel Washington.
Myrlie Evers-Williams was the first chair of the NAACP and widow of the murdered civil rights advocate Medgar Evans. Coach Boone spoke on January 13th in Everett and Ms. Evers-Williams spoke in Lynnwood on January 15th.
