Native America Calling - Mon 3pm


A one-hour call-in program, bringing listeners together forethought-provoking national conversation about issues specific to Native communities and impacting non-natives. Each program engages noted guests and experts with callers throughout the United States and is designed to improve the quality of life for Native American and foster conversations between Native Americans and non-natives.

State of the Media - Counterspin Mon 4:30pm

A special look at the state of the media in America. What are the implications of the collapse of the news media for citizens? What can we do about it? Robert McChesney and John Nichols, co-authors of the book ''The Death and Life of American Journalism: the Media Revolution That Will Begin the World Again” talk about the need for strong journalism in a Democracy and the need to cultivate strong community news like local papers and radio stations.

African Americans in the Labor Movement - Mon 6:30pm

African Americans in the Labor Movement (Part 2). A conversation with Judson MacLaury, a retired historian from the US Department of Labor and author of TO ADVANCE THEIR OPPORTUNITIES: Federal Policies Toward African American Workers from World War I to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Plus, the music of Paul Robeson.

Reading for Pre-schools - Tue 3pm Parent's Journal

Tracey Wood, children’s reading specialist has tips on teaching pre-schools their ABCs, Julie Powers, Instructor of Early Childhood Education has suggestions on finding the best childcare and Dr. Kyle Pruett, Clinical Professor of Child Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine talks about how men and women parent differently and how to use the differences to help the kids and the marriage.
