THIS WEEK:  REV UP YOUR CREATIVE GENIUS LIKE

                                 EDISON with Michael Gelb

Thomas Edison was an exceptional genius, but the greatest product of his genius was the establishment of a systematic approach to success that he believed anyone could emulate. In this conversation, Michael Gelb describes the easy-to-apply system of five competencies one needs to complete in order to find what Edison called, "Your own astounding potential." These skills are relevant to anyone who wants to be more creative and use more of their human potential.  Michael Gelb is the word's leading authority on the application of genius thinking to personal and organizational development and is internationally recognized as a pioneer in the fields of creative thinking, accelerated learning, and innovative leadership. He is the author of several books, including the international bestseller, How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci (Dell 2000) and his clients have included DuPont, General Electric, Merck, Microsoft, and Nike. Along with Sarah Miller Caldicott he is co-author of Innovate Like Edison: The Success System of America's Greatest Inventor. To learn more go to www.michaelgelb.com

KSER SPECIAL:      After Oil    If you want to be honest about it, for the last century, America has been shaped by cheap oil.  But, there are plenty of people and a great deal of scientific research telling us: "The party is over." The cheap oil is almost gone.  America has always responded well to a crisis. But, thinking about the magnitude and the devastation the end of oil could cause to our lives and lifestyles, thee question becomes: Can we act BEFORE the crisis .... to stave-off a world Running on Empty? We HAVE the tools. But do we have the will? Do we have the determination? This program looks for answers to these questions about life “after oil.”

THIS WEEK  Dahr Jamail: Iraq Beyond the Greenzone

The Green Zone is a special highly privileged area in Baghdad. It is heavily fortified and surround by high blast-resistant walls. It has everything most Iraqis lack: a steady supply of clean drinking water, sanitation and sewage services, lots of gas and most important electricity. Many journalists covering Iraq are of the drive-by category. Fly in, fly out, do a couple of stand-ups with a mosque in the background and an interview or two, then they’re gone.
Dahr Jamail is an independent journalist who went to
Iraq to report on the war and occupation. His articles appear in The Guardian, The Nation and other journals and magazines. His book "Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq" is published by Haymarket

THIS WEEK:    THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF BEAUTY

                                with Ruth Gelder

What is beauty? Is your child beautiful? Your loved one? What about that neighbor who antagonizes you on a regular basis? Beauty is a quality that defies definition. You know it when you see it, but may not know why one object looks beautiful while another does not. J. Ruth Gendler looks beyond definitions to explore the feeling of beauty, and the wisdom that makes it possible to transform the world to a place that's more beautiful than we imagined it could be. J. Ruth Gendler is an artist and a writer, and has been a teacher of writing and art for more than twenty years. Ms. Gendler is also the editor of Changing Light: The Eternal Cycle of Night and Day. To learn more about the work of J. Ruth Gendler go to www.ruthgendler.com
