So, what's a GRIOT, anyhow?

A griot at work...

Once upon a time, O Best Beloved, right after civilization had been invented, but before the Good Old Days began, in those days, Best Beloved, there were Storytellers.

Storytellers were everywhere...

...as thick as trolls, as everyday as elves, as ordinary as ogres, as prevalent as pixies. These storytellers gathered the people together in schools, churches, markets and bazaars, shops and stories, and most especially around the campfire to tell the tales and stories and folklores and fables and legends and myths and marvelous imaginings.

And these days, O Best Beloved, in these harem-scarem, raucous and rough days of Modern Amenities, in these times there are still storytellers.

Aarene...

Jim...

And these Modernly Amenable Storytellers are everywhere--as common as computers, as typical as traffic, as routine as rainfall. And these storytellers tell their stories in schools, churches, and markets.... but also in libraries, in office buildings, in conferences, parks, and most especially: on KSER on Sunday mornings!

That's what a GRIOT is, Best Beloved: A storyteller!

Global Griot features stories and music from around the world; the stories of past and present, of last century and last week, of far away and right over here.

Join us! KSER 90.7fm, 8:00-11:00 am every Sunday morning. We have a story for YOU!
