What It Takes to Make Public Radio

Donate the equipment we need!

We're in the midst of our Summer pledge drive - trying to make up a shortfall from our brave attempt at a 1-day pledge drive. $10,000 is all we lack to move forward with the work this station needs to bring you the music, news and information, and local programs you value most.

We thought you might like to see just what it is we need to bring you the programming you love, so here's the list of equipment and projects that we must fund to continue our work. If you'd prefer to donate a specific item, rather than send us a financial contribution, please do so.

Two (2) new Dell Studio XPS 9100 Desktop computers = $999 each (no monitor).

One (1) Symetrix 528E Voice Processor = $599
Symetrix 528e Voice Processor

Two (2) Arrakis ARC-8 Broadcast Mixing Consoles= $799 each.
This is one of THE least expensive broadcast-quality mixers available. We need two - one for Production Studio 2 and one for our mobile broadcast studio.

Three (3) Denon DNC635 CD Players = $579 each
We need two for Production Studio 2 and 1 spare

Nautel NV 3.5 HD Radio Transmitter =  $56,784 Nautel transmitterFor our new station, 89.9fm, we need a Nautel transmitter. We applied for a government grant to fund 75% of this project, but just in the nick of time, Congress eliminated the enter funding program (known as the PTFP - public telecommunications facilities program). So now we need to come up with the whole kahuna.

Upgrade our website software from Drupal 5 to Drupal 6. = $10,000

Drupal is the backbone of our website, and the software is dangerously out of date - "dangerous" because our version is old and vulnerable to a variety of new hacking techniques. In fact you may have noticed certain stories whose entire content has been replaced by links to porn sites, etc. We need an upgrade to Drupal 6, and although the software itself is open-source, the work it will take is enormous and requires a professional web designer. If you have professional experience with Drupal-based website construction, please send us your resume and links to examples of your work. If you don't have experience, our designers at Digital Aid are ready to take on the task. We just need $10,000 for the project.

A new roof = $13,000
Yup, just like your home, KSER's facility needs some serious TLC, especially our roof. We got a bid from the good folks at Riverside Roof here in Everett, but now need the money to have it done. If you own a roofing company and would like to donate the work, please contact us. Otherwise, please consider donating the money needed for the project.
