THIS WEEK:  Today on Sound Living, some of the people in our region who are creating the future talk about their visions.  On November 6th, the Sno-Isle Library gathered some of the most fascinating thinkers and does in the region at the Edmonds Center for the Arts for TEDx, a one-day conversation titled  Creating New Futures. Today on Sound Living, you’ll hear edited remarks from six of the presenters.

THIS WEEK: Laura Carlsen, director of the Mexico City-based Americas Program of the Center for International Policy, talks about the unusual circumstances around the arrest of the Mexican drug-lord, "El Chapo." And, Omar Shakir, Bertha Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights, where he focuses on unlawful detentions at Guantánamo prison, updates listeners on the status of the prison and its prisoners.

THIS WEEK:  A Good American. A new film by Austrian director Freidrich Moser, "A Good American," tells the story of the mathematician many consider the best code-breaker the US ever had and how he and a small team within the NSA created ThinThread, a highly effective computer surveillance program.

THIS WEEK:  Buying The Farm. This week's guest, author Dean Kuipers, explores how farms get the money they need to grow the food we eat. In his recently published Orion magazine article, "Buying the Farm," Kuipers picks apart the financial landscape of agriculture and compares financing for big agri-business versus smaller sustainable farming.
